The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs (MCAE), through the Office of the General Coordinator, represented by Mr. Jorge Rui de Carvalho Martins, participated in the Contract Signing Meeting with the Beneficiary Groups.
The contract signing meeting was held to provide support to beneficiary groups, strengthen cooperation between the Government and the private sector, and promote activities that contribute to economic and social development in Timor-Leste.
The signing of the contracts also formed part of the Government’s efforts to strengthen the capacity of beneficiary groups, foster private initiatives, and create opportunities for sustainable development in communities.
“Over the past several months, we have held communications and internal discussions concerning financial constraints and public expenditure. Following internal reviews and consultations with the relevant parties, the Government will continue to seek solutions that can provide support to beneficiary groups until the end of its mandate,” said the MCAE General Coordinator.
The MCAE General Coordinator also stressed that the progress already achieved must be sustained through joint efforts by the Government, financial institutions and the private sector in order to improve conditions and support for economic activities.
“The Government and the private sector must work together to strengthen the country’s economic development. The Government will continue to provide support according to its capacity, but the private sector must also become an important driver and leader of economic development,” he added.
The MCAE General Coordinator further noted that, although the country will continue to depend on public revenue, it is necessary to strengthen the private sector so that, in the future, it can lead and sustain national economic development.
He added that the discussions, views and recommendations arising from dialogue among the parties will continue to serve as important references for the development of Government policies and programmes.
The ceremony was also attended by the Vice-President of CCITL, the President of ACCTO, representatives of AMTL, and members of the Feto Haburas Turizmu group.
