Tibar, April,10, 2026-
The Vice Prime-Minister, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, (CMEA), Minister Tourism and Environments, Francisco Kalbuadi Lay, officially launched the hand -Over site ceremony for Rehabilitation of the National Laboratory, in Tibar, Liquisa Municipality.
The launch ceremony was also accompanied by the General Coordinator of CMEA, Jorge Rui de Carvalho Martins, and the Inspector general of AIFAESA, Dr. Odete da Silva Viegas.
According to the Vice Prime-Minister, Coordinating Minister for Economic affairs, the rehabilitation project located in Tibar, is a Strategic step by the Government to ensure the quality and safety of food circulating within the country.
‘’This is a wonderful day that, marks an important historic moment for all Timorese people. The rehabilitation project has great strategic significant for our nation, especially in effort to strengthen food safety and quality in Timor-Leste,’’ said the Vice Prime-minister in his intervention.
The vice Prime-Minister emphasized that ‘the Laboratory will serve as a key pillar, to provide technical support to ensure food meets international standards (safe and healthy) improving testing quality, control monitoring of product, promote confidence in Timor-Leste’s in national and international level, and to protect public health’.
The Vice Prime-Minister also highlighted ‘’this Laboratory will serve as a main pillar to provide technical support to the Government, ensure food meets international standards (safe and healthy), improving testing quality, control and monitoring products, promote confidence in Timor-Leste’s products in national and international levels and protect public health’’.
The rehabilitation project implemented by Oceano Lda, is planned to be completed within Six (6) months.
In parallel with the Physical construction, human resource training program will be implemented simultaneously capacity-building immediately carried out to prepare their knowledge before the laboratory operates maximum capacity.
