Vice Prime-Minister Francisco Kalbuadi Lay Leads ACNOC Strategic Metting for the 2029 ASEAN Chairship Preparations.

DÍLI, 16 of April 2026-

The Vice-Prime-Minister, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, (CMEA), Minister Tourism and Environments, Francisco Kalbuadi Lay, leads a coordinating meeting of the National Organizing Council for the ASEAN Chairship (ACNOC) to cover developments regarding the responsibilities that Timor-Leste will assume in 2029. The meeting was held in Nobre Hall, at the Ministry of Foreign affairs and Corporation (MNEC).

The main objective of this meeting is to strengthen coordination between all Government entities involved in Planning the ASEAN Presidency.

The Government seeks to ensure integration and effective approach to technical and logistical issues, considering the strategic importance of this event at both national and regional levels”.
In his intervention, the Vice Prime -Minister Francisco Kalbuadi Lay, emphasized the basic issues, is ‘’ interministerial collaboration is work together to mobilizing appropriate resource, rigorous preparation to make sure Timor-Leste is readiness in all aspect, to welcomed the delegations from southeast Asia as well as international partners and strengthening cooperation in critical areas such as Education, Justice, internal security, and Hospitality is fundamental as keys for presidency’s success’’.

We must work together to consolidate our capacity and ensure that Timor-Leste can play an effective and credible leadership role within the region.
In this meeting, the vice-Prime minister, Francisco Kalbuadi Lay, accompanied by Vice-Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister of Social affair and Minister of Rural Development Habilitation and Communities, Mariano Assanami Sabino, as well as other Government members relevant to this process’’.

The presence of the government members as a concrete proves within Institutional Compromise to prepare the challenges, reaffirm Timor-Leste as a new member, ready to contribute to stability and Prosperity within ASEAN.
