The Office of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs (MCAE), through its General Coordinator, Jorge Rui de Carvalho Martins, distributed Professional Certificates to 231 graduates who successfully completed vocational training at CNFP Becora on December, 16, 2025.

In his remarks, the General Coordinator emphasized that vocational training certification is essential to developing a skilled workforce that is competitive, adaptable, and ready to contribute to national development, as well as to respond to regional and global labor market demands. In an era of global connectivity, skills are no longer optional but a fundamental necessity.

For Timor-Leste, vocational training and certification play a vital role in supporting economic diversification, job creation, and integration into regional and global markets. A qualified and certified workforce enhances the country’s credibility, strengthens investor confidence, and positions Timor-Leste as a reliable source of skilled labor within the ASEAN region.

The General Coordinator also acknowledged the ongoing challenges faced by training centers, including limitations in infrastructure, equipment, funding, and access to technology. Despite these constraints, significant progress continues to be made through program expansion, improvements in training quality, and increased participation of young people, both women and men.

The 231 graduates completed training in a wide range of fields, including civil construction, masonry and carpentry, plumbing, welding, electrical installation, and non-construction sectors such as sewing, information technology, baking, air conditioning maintenance, general administration, and motor mechanics
.
“We are proud of the achievements of the graduates. This certificate is not the end, but the beginning of a new journey toward a brighter future—for you, you’re families, and the nation. You are the foundation of Timor-Leste’s future workforce,” said the General Coordinator.

MKAE also expressed its sincere appreciation to the trainers, instructors, and training providers for their dedication and valuable contribution to building the skills, confidence, and character of the graduates.
