The Office of MCAE, through the Strategic Unit for Economic Integration (SUEI) – under the Private Sector Section, in collaboration with IADE, held a five-day training entitled “Accounting: Start Your Business” for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Bobonaro and Baucau.
The training aims to improve participants’ understanding of basic accounting, business planning, market research, and cash flow management to enable them to manage their business sustainably.

This activity follows MCAE’s monitoring of 117 groups receiving public support between 2023–2024, which indicates the need to improve accounting skills at the Micro, Small and Medium sized Enterprises (MSMEs) level. This support is also in line with the public transfer policy set out in Government Regulation No. 01/2009 and Ministerial Decree No. 01/2027/2020 on Public Subsidies.

The training in Bobonaro was led by IADE-CDE Director Paulo Bonifacio and his team, accompanied by Herminia de Deus, Head of Private Sector Section under MCAE. In Baucau, the training was led by IADE-CDE Director Ana Maria da Costa Freitas and her team, accompanied by Francisco Xavier, Head of Monitoring and Evaluation Unit under MCAE.
