The Vice Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Tourism and Environment, through General Coordinator (MCAE) Mr. Jorge Rui de Carvalho Martins, together with the delegation, held a meeting with the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) in the Kofi Annan Room, UN House, Caikoli, Dili.
The aim of the meeting was to form a technical team with relevant line ministries and development partners, to prepare for the establishment of the Joint Steering Committee.
The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen inter-institutional coordination, review progress on ongoing work, and prepare the key agenda and documents to be presented at the upcoming high-level meeting of the Joint Steering Committee.
The role of the ministries is crucial in ensuring that all programmes and initiatives covered under the UNSDCF outcome areas are aligned with national development priorities and deliver positive impact for the people of Timor-Leste.
Review progress and assess the results of technical work already undertaken at the operational level to provide a basis for strategic decision-making. Conclude the agenda for the Joint Steering Committee meeting to facilitate effective partnerships that deliver significant impact for communities
Technical ministries serve as the focal points for partnerships with UN agencies in key areas such as health, education, economic development, governance, and climate change.
With technical leadership from the ministries, the implementation of the UNSDCF pillars will strengthen national institutional capacity and facilitate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
